RESEARCH STATEMENT:
This research project might be characterised as the classical equivalent of Shakespeare in Modern Dress. The participant researchers are all, in very different ways, exploring the possibilities for contemporary interpretations of classical repertoire (in the colloquial ‘Western Art Music’ sense of ‘classical music’). From new approaches to performing the repertoire to re-compositions and re-workings of it; from radical recording techniques to new approaches to business models and distribution.
